It sounds wonderful and I have the utmost confidence in our Architect(s). I can’t wait to move in next door to our Grandsons. No pressure at all. Thanks!

Interesting to follow your project. We are about to move from UK to buy land a nd build as green as possible. Are you planning to publish your costs? The bloggers doing so are so helpful as lots of us are trying to work ut what kind of green build we can afford!
This is one such blog

Jane,
Good question! One that I’ve been wondering myself. The problem I have with publishing prices is, due to the nature of my business and my existing relationships with vendors, I’m able to get trade pricing plus a little extra discount for the amount of business I’ve been giving these guys over the years. For instance, I have pricing on two different window systems and the bids are about 50% less than what they typically would be. I don’t feel sharing this information would be an accurate representation of real construction costs.
I can tell you we’re building a 3,300 s.f. house on a steep lot for under $500k. Taking my discount out of the equation, the same house would probably be in the $700k-$800k range.
